White House Bid Specs for Video Teleprompter Glasses

The White House has quietly released bid specifications for next-generation teleprompter glasses, according to industry insiders (similar to model pictured here).  The Obama Administration has been talking privately with several manufacturers expected to participate in silent-bids during April 2009 with working prototypes to be submitted during June.

While these glasses will have a slight tint and polarized lenses, circular polarization will be implemented to hide the presence of a 1-inch internally reflected image. The image will render a high-resolution teleprompter display enabled via use of an internal encrypted spread-spectrum transceiver. The internal transceiver is expected to boast a ten-hour battery life and two-way stereo audio.

President Obama hinted at a future need for vision correction earlier this month when he announced National Vision Week. It has been leaked that he will begin wearing glasses within the next two months to correct near-sighted vision, followed by a quiet transition to the video glasses later this summer.

Sources say this move to a more subtle form of teleprompter scripting is the result of bad press regarding the president's frequent use of teleprompters when delivering messages to the public. "We feel that removing teleprompters from proximity of the president will help the president look more at ease when communicating with the American public. We have a president who is an excellent communicator and the obtrusive teleprompter presence has been a growing distraction. We believe the technology has matured to the extent that we can make this transition with very little effort."

While President Obama is expected to have "Teleprompter Vision" by late summer 2009, look for the general public to get the first glimpse of these new products during the CES 2010.
